We have been commissioned to prepare Tourism (or Visitor Economy) Strategies for a wide range of agencies:

Coalfield Alliance

Preparation of a focused Tourism Strategy and Action Plan for the Coalfield Alliance area centred around North East Derbyshire, Bassetlaw and Newark and Sherwood.  The study involved an audit of the existing tourism ‘offer’ and a review of existing strategies, policies and tourism and lifestyle trends.  A co-ordinated Strategy and Action Plan has been devised to position the area more effectively to take advantage of the Peak National Park and the cities of Sheffield, Nottingham and Derby.

Other Tourism and Marketing Strategies have been prepared for:

Rufford Country Park

Major Country Park in Nottinghamshire attracting over 600,000 visitors per annum.

Dyfi Valley

Action Plan for Tourism Growth Area which provided a framework for grant applications to enhance the tourism product of the Dyfi Valley.

Hay on Wye

Tourism Strategy providing a framework to maximise the undoubted tourism potential of this ‘Book Town’.

Intranet Parks

Assessment of the tourism marketing potential of five existing (and potential) National Parks in Wales, Holland, Belgium, Hungary and Romania.

Dee Valley

A Tourism and Interpretive Strategy for the Dee Valley (between Llangollen and Corwen) for Denbighshire Rural Community Action to maximise its undoubted tourism potential and provide a framework for funding applications.

Vale of Clwyd

A Tourism and Interpretive Strategy for Denbighshire Rural Community Action to provide a framework for maximising the tourism potential of the area which could be used for preparing funding applications.

Hiraethog

Sustainable Tourism Strategy for the remote rural area of the Hiraethog between the Clwydian Hills AONB and Snowdonia.  This has included establishing a partnership between local authorities, public agencies and the local business community.  The strategy is to be used to generate funding through the EU Convergence and the Welsh Assembly Government Rural Development programmes.

Community Regeneration Initiatives

Rhayader 2000 Community Action Plan and Tourism Development Strategy

The town has benefited from funding towards community regeneration for nearly 5 years.  The opportunity existed to prepare a costed Action Plan to secure funding for a further period of time under the Community Regeneration Tool Kit Programme funded by the Welsh Development Agency.  Through site appraisal, consultations, focus groups and desk research we prepared a 5 Year Phased and Costed Action Plan which has secured funding to replace the Development Officer.  We subsequently prepared a Tourism Development Action Plan for the town as an extension of the original contract.
